Making the Move to Clean Eating

One of my goals for this upcoming year is going to be to switch completely to clean, healthy eating. Time to cut the junk completely and get over being a picky eater.

One day I'd really love to be totally Paleo, but my eating habits just don't allow for the complete switch.  I need to learn to love a lot of fruits and veggies before I make the total switch.

My pantry is pretty much cleaned of bad item, but it still needs some help.  I honestly can't afford to just junk everything and make an entire switch.

Trader Joe's is going to be my go to place for inexpensive switches.

First up: Get rid of all candy and processed boxed food.

I'll post photos here and there as I make the switch.

Water Detox Update

So a few weeks ago I attempted the Jillian Michael's 7-day Detox.  Let's just say I didn't make it past day 2.  I had some very strange reactions to drinking the mixture.  I had a pretty mad migraine both days.  Nothing would cure it!! Day 3 I decided to not drink the mixture and just drink plain water all day and miraculously mid-day my migraine was gone.  Now just to be sure I had a reaction I drank some more of the detox water and it caused a slight headache.

No detox for me!  :( It must have been the dandelion tea...that was the only new thing I introduced into my system.

Since that time I have just increased my water intake which has helped lose inches, not many, but any lose is a victory in my book! You know, since it's the holidays and all!

Water Detox

Going to give Jillian Michaels' detox drink a try.  The idea is that you drink this water along with clean eating and exercise for a week and your body will shed the extra water it's holding on to.  You have the potential to lose up to 5 pounds (some will lose less and some may lose more) of just water weight.

Ingredients:
60 oz of distilled water
1 Tbsp cranberry juice (100% cranberry juice)
2 Tbsp lemon juice

Directions:
1. Brew the tea as listed on the box
2. Mix all ingredients together and add the tea
3. Drink the entire mixture each day for up to seven days
4. Make a new batch for the next day at the end of the day

Purpose

I need a place to document what I've struggled with a majority of life.  I struggle with keeping a healthy weight and have since pretty much puberty hit.  There will be highs and lows and my posts may come few and far between at times, but this blog is to help me get healthy and be happy.

I hope that it also inspires and offers support to others who struggle with the same problems I do.  Please don't hesitate to ask question and comment.  If I don't know an answer I will do my best to find out for you. :)

Disclaimer: I am not a personal trainer (yet...) and anything placed on this blog is my own personal experiences.  Please consult your doctor to make sure anything you try from my blog is safe for you.
